Storytelling in the Folk Tradition

Storytelling in the Folk Tradition

In a mad world growing dangerous by the day, original and classic folk music somehow force their way to the surface. Activism, emotion and sharing what matters is the result.
A poet, reporter and now social worker by day, I somehow pull melodies and lyrics from the chords and fingerings that present themselves on my Alvarez , Yamaha and Ovation.
My latest creations are always evolving, and accompany tunes form the Kickstarter album Roads, Love is Hard, and an early effort called Letting Go. Covers of Joan Baez, Dylan, Jason Isbell, Passenger, Led Zeppelin, Noah Kahan and Kate Wolf keep things fresh.
Sample what you will, and let me know what speaks to you. It's why I do what I do.

After adopting my bassett hound mix Angel in 2024, gigging to promote originals in 2025 and continually crafting new material, I am exploring new venues in New England.
Gigs featuring older and newer folk songs range from shows in the round in New London CT, Providence RI and Randolph VT to solo performances and festivals chiefly in New Hampshire and Vermont. A proud flatlander, I call Springfield VT home.

A love of poetry that morphed into songwriting first grew from a reverence for poets John Keats, Adrienne Rich and W.H. Auden, then led to scrutiny of the lyrical power and showmanship of folk music legends Janis Ian, Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens, Joan Baez and Tracy Chapman.
Influenced by them, I tell stories, rant, ramble and paint portraits with the themes of love, loss and the human condition. Mostly, my fingers fly on steel strings and my voice breaks with the fragility of it all.
